Digital for Planet at the EU-Indo-Pacific Digital Partnership Conference 2025

Digital for Planet was proud to take part in the EU-Indo-Pacific Digital Partnership Conference 2025, held on 28-29 October 2025 at the Shaw Foundation Alumni House, National University of Singapore. Organised by INPACE, the National University of Singapore, and the Singapore Academy of Engineering (SAEng), the event gathered leaders from research, industry and innovation ecosystems to strengthen cooperation between Europe and the Indo-Pacific on critical digital technologies and strategic policy areas.

As the European Union deepens its digital partnerships with Singapore, Japan, South Korea, and India, this annual conference has become a key platform to exchange knowledge, build connections, and advance shared priorities, from trustworthy AI and resilient digital infrastructures to semiconductor innovation and secure data ecosystems.

Driving Secure and Sustainable Digital Innovation Across Regions

Dr. Monique Calisti, President and Founder of Digital for Planet, played a central role in fostering dialogue on secure, sustainable and human-centric digital infrastructures. Monique moderated the high-level session “Secure Cloud-Edge-IoT Continuum and Protection of Infrastructures,” uniting experts from Europe and the Indo-Pacific to explore how distributed digital services can remain trustworthy, privacy-preserving and resilient as the world transitions toward hyper-connected smart environments. Participants explored critical security challenges emerging from the convergence of Cloud, Edge, and IoT technologies – the “smart continuum” – and their role for digital infrastructure protection.

Contributions came from distinguished speakers, including:

  • Prof. Iaroslav Gnilitskyi (Lviv Polytechnic National University, Ukraine), who presented pioneering work on high-efficient batteries for critical infrastructure protection enabled by femtosecond laser nanostructuring;
  • Prof. Jaeseung Song (Sejong University, South Korea), who discussed IoT standards interoperability as a foundation for trusted digital ecosystems;
  • Prof. Rui Tan (Nanyang Technological University, Singapore), who demonstrated research on resilient autonomous driving perception, ensuring safety and reliability in increasingly automated mobility systems.

She also contributed to the session “Information on EU Research and Innovation Funding,” guiding participants through the opportunities offered by the Horizon Europe framework and highlighting key pillars aligned with the conference’s themes. She encouraged collaborative initiatives aligned with responsible digital innovation, sustainability and global cooperation and invited participants to stay updated on ongoing activities through INPACE and EURAXESS ASEAN.

Connecting innovation, sustainability and policy

Across two days of keynotes, strategy discussions and technical workshops, the conference explored themes that align with D4P’s mission, including:

  • Trustworthy, safe and human-centric artificial intelligence
  • AI for sustainable cities and resilient digital infrastructure
  • Semiconductor cooperation for resilient and sustainable supply chains
  • Green digital infrastructure and carbon-aware innovation
  • Innovation hubs fostering the application of digital technologies

A step forward for global digital cooperation

The conference concluded with renewed commitments to deepen collaboration, enhance research partnerships and jointly pursue funding opportunities that enable ethical and sustainable technology ecosystems.

As a community dedicated to accelerating digital sustainability, ethical innovation and environmental regeneration, Digital for Planet is honoured to contribute expertise and vision to this growing international alliance.

We look forward to continuing this work with partners across Europe and the Indo-Pacific to drive digital innovation that is not only advanced and competitive, but also responsible, inclusive and planet-positive.

About INPACE

INPACE is a Horizon Europe Coordination and Support Action that supports the implementation of Digital Partnerships between the European Union and Japan, South Korea, Singapore, as well as the Trade and Technology Council with India. Launched in January 2024, INPACE brings together 21 European and Asian organisations to establish a multi-stakeholder Hub for collaboration in digital technologies. The initiative fosters long-term cooperation between Europe and the Indo-Pacific in key digital technologies by bringing together experts and stakeholders from both regions
