In an impactful gathering of digital experts and policymakers, the INPACE Symposium in Seoul set the stage for advancing digital cooperation between Europe and the Indo-Pacific region. At the forefront of this initiative, Digital for Planet played a central role in maximizing the impact and visibility of the event. Leading the communication and engagement strategy, the Digital for Planet team facilitated impactful exchanges and shared insights, interviews, and discussions that amplified the symposiumβs key takeaways.Β
Funded under Horizon Europe, INPACE aims to build resilient digital partnerships between the EU and key nations in the Indo-Pacific, with a focus on digital education, skills, and policy innovation.
Hosted by Sejong University, the two-day symposium brought together stakeholders from government, industry, and academia to explore transformative advancements in digital technology, bridging continents and fortifying collaboration between the EU, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, along with cooperation with India within the Trade and Technology Council framework.
Monique Calisti, President and Founder of Digital for Planet, took to the stage at the 14th International Conference on ICT Convergence (ICTC) preceding the Seoul event, speaking on sustainable connectivityβa core area of our vision for a responsible digital transformation.
Sustainable Connectivity as the Backbone of Digital Transformation
The event emphasized sustainable connectivity as a cornerstone of digital transformation, underscoring that technological advancements must align with environmental and social goals to truly drive progress. A prime example of this vision was the concept of Smart Cities, presented as dynamic ecosystems where IoT, AI, and digital infrastructure converge to create more resilient, efficient, and inclusive urban environments.
Dr. Monique Calisti advocated for a development model that transcends purely technological objectives, calling instead for an approach that is multi-stakeholder and holistic. This paradigm, she explained, must encompass societal and environmental needs to ensure that digital progress benefits not only economies but also communities and ecosystems.
