The 2nd EU-Japan Digital Week will take place in Tokyo from 23 to 30 March 2026, organised as part of the EU-Japan Digital Partnership. As the flagship annual event under the partnership, it will bring together stakeholders from government, industry, academia, research, and policymaking across the European Union, Japan, and the wider Indo-Pacific region to advance cooperation in the digital economy.
The EU-Japan Digital Week aims to go beyond dialogue by fostering concrete collaboration and shared approaches to a secure, resilient, and human-centric digital future. The 2026 edition will address a broad range of topics shaping digital transformation, including emerging and disruptive technologies, AI for societal good, trusted data spaces, cybersecurity, and the role of digital diplomacy in international technology governance.
Through thematic workshops, high-level dialogues, hands-on training sessions, a hackathon, and stakeholder roundtables, participants will explore opportunities for joint research, innovation, capacity-building, and policy alignment. Particular attention will be given to how digital technologies can support sustainable economic development and responsible innovation within the framework of EU-Japan cooperation.
Fostering EU-Japan Digital Collaboration
Dr. Monique Calisti, President and Founder of Digital for Planet, will be present in Tokyo and will co-organise and lead the “EU Tech Business Offer for Japan” session on Wednesday, 25 March, together with INPACE Project Coordinator Dr. Svetlana Klessova from G.A.C Group.
This invitation-only session will build on exchanges with diverse stakeholder groups to examine concrete pathways for European technology providers and innovators to engage with the Japanese market. Discussions will focus on market entry considerations, partnership models, and business development strategies aligned with the framework of EU-Japan digital cooperation priorities. Bringing together EC-funded project participants alongside invited European experts with relevant sectoral experience, the session will adopt a brainstorming approach to explore how European capabilities – notably in digital infrastructure, AI applications, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies – can align with Japanese industry needs and policy objectives. The goal is to identify practical mechanisms for sustained business collaboration under the EU-Japan Digital Partnership.
