The BLOSSOM Project, a European Union-funded project officially launched on June 23, bringing together a European consortium of 27 partners dedicated to transforming the way climate action is financed through digital innovation and data-driven decision-making.
As the climate crisis intensifies, there’s an urgent need to unlock more effective, scalable, and inclusive financing solutions for sustainability. BLOSSOM is stepping in to help cities, regions, and local authorities make smarter investments in the green transition.
Blending Green Finance and Digital Innovation
BLOSSOM focuses on helping public authorities and stakeholders design and implement climate adaptation and mitigation strategies with the support of cutting-edge digital tools.
By creating an open platform for data sharing and collaboration, the project aims to accelerate access to innovative financing mechanisms, including blended finance and green bonds. The ultimate goal is to turn sustainability plans into real, measurable action.
A Citizen-Centered, Inclusive Approach
The project puts citizens and local communities at the heart of the green transition. Through participatory processes and co-creation, BLOSSOM aims to ensure that investments are not only sustainable but also socially inclusive and aligned with community needs.
With 15 partners from 10 countries, BLOSSOM will test its approach in five pilot areas: Copenhagen (Denmark), Turku (Finland), Cascais (Portugal), Prato (Italy), and Grenoble (France).
The role of Digital for Planet
D4P leads the communication and dissemination efforts in BLOSSOM, ensuring the project’s results reach key stakeholders and the wider public. D4P will develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy, coordinate outreach activities, and produce impactful content such as videos, infographics, and publications. Through campaigns, conferences, and collaboration with similar initiatives, D4P will raise awareness and promote the adoption of BLOSSOM’s transformative climate solutions.
In addition, D4P plays a key role in building and engaging the BLOSSOM Community of Practice, helping to connect public authorities, financial actors, and private stakeholders. By fostering knowledge sharing and strategic collaboration, D4P supports the creation of a lasting ecosystem focused on climate resilience and large-scale impact across Europe.
